Dear Team,

I'm launching a home fitness brand in Australia and I'm looking for a manufacturer for resistance band sets. I have a very specific design in mind — custom colors, branded packaging, unique hook system. I've looked at a few suppliers but they all seem to be either too large or not interested in smaller orders.

I saw your company on LinkedIn — one of your posts about automotive parts caught my eye. I know you don't make fitness equipment now, but I'm hoping you might know someone who does? Or maybe you have connections?

My budget is tight. I'm a one-woman operation right now.

Thanks,
Natalie
Founder, FitPulse AU

"I'm hoping you might know someone who does? Or maybe you have connections?"——

"My budget is tight. I'm a one-woman operation right now."——她主动暴露了自己的局限性。

Vivian

域名是fitpulse.com.au。

Resistance band sets – manufacturing options + total landed cost estimate

Natalie,

I read your email carefully and I want to be direct with you, because I think that's what you'd prefer.

First: I don't make fitness equipment today. But I do have a network of contract manufacturers I trust, and one of them specializes in injection-molded handles and rubber components. I can facilitate an introduction and help you manage the qualification process.

Second — and this is the more important part — I took the liberty of rough-estimating your total landed cost in Australia, because I think this is what actually keeps you up at night.

Based on a typical 4-band set + 2 handles + door anchor + carry bag, shipping to Sydney via sea freight (LCL, approximately 1 CBM), all-inclusive of:

  • Product manufacturing

  • Custom packaging with your branding

  • Sea freight + insurance

  • Australian customs clearance + duties (5% estimated)

  • Inland transport to your warehouse
The total landed cost per unit is estimated in the range of AUD 12-15. This leaves a retail margin of 200-300% at AUD 39-49, which is competitive for a branded set in the Australian market.

A few caveats:

  • This is a ballpark estimate based on similar projects I've worked on. Exact numbers will vary after we lock in design and materials.

  • MOQ for branded, custom-packaged sets usually starts at 500-1,000 pcs. If that's too high, we can explore a smaller initial run with simplified packaging, and upgrade to full-branded packaging on the second batch.
I'm not saying "yes we can do everything and here's the price." I'm saying: I can help you figure this out. If I can't do something myself, I will tell you who can.

If you'd like, we can hop on a video call and I'll show you samples of similar products from a factory I'm thinking of. You can judge the quality yourself before I even send you a quote.

Let me know.

Zuo,

I was not expecting this. I've emailed about a dozen suppliers in the last two weeks. Every single one of them either said "MOQ 10,000 pcs, no exceptions" or sent me a catalog with no context.

You're the first person to:
1. actually calculate what it would cost me to get the product to my door
2. offer to connect me to a factory that makes similar stuff, even though it's not your product
3. tell me 500 is possible with simplified packaging

I've been sitting on this idea for months, going back and forth on whether I can actually afford to do it. Your email made me feel like maybe I can.

One question: I've been working on my packaging design — I want the unboxing experience to be good, because I think that's how I compete with the big brands. I know this adds cost. But I also can't afford to go crazy. What would you recommend?

Also — video call? Yes please. I'm free Thursday afternoon my time.

Thank you for not treating me like I'm too small to matter.

Natalie
