"Looks better than the sample," Mark
"Zuo, I've secured a supply contract with a mid-sized hardware chain here in Australia. Their first order will be six containers—two designs, three sizes. But there are a few conditions. One, price needs to be adjusted—I'll be buying in volume, and they have a very competitive bidding process. Two, I need you to do a quality inspection for me. Not on your own products—on another supplier's. They also want to quote me, and I want an independent check on their quality before I consider them."
I can work with the new volume. Let me review the inspection request and get back to you with a proposal."
"Mark, let me give you my thinking on this."
For six containers, I can give you a three-point-five percent discount on the unit price. Not ten, not five — three-point-five. That's based on the actual cost savings I can achieve from bulk ordering of raw materials and consolidated packaging. Any more than that, and I'd have to cut corners that I'm not willing to cut."
But I can also do something else — I'll lock in this price for the next twelve months. Even if raw material costs go up, I don't pass it on to you for this project. That gives you predictability for your hardware chain bidding."
Three-point-five is lower than what I hoped for. But the twelve-month lock is valuable. Let me think about that."
About the inspection request — I can do that for you. But I want to be clear about the scope. I'll go to the factory, check their product against your requirements — size tolerance, surface quality, packaging standard — and give you a written report. What I won't do is negotiate their price for you or recommend whether you should buy from them. That's your decision. My role is to tell you what I see."
And I'll send you photos and a short video from the inspection. First-hand evidence. That's more useful than a certificate they give you."
That's exactly what I need. When can you go?"
From Mark. Interested in tiles for Dubai project."
Mark said you are reliable. I need tiles for a hotel renovation. Different quality level from what you sent Mark — higher end. Can you handle?"
We can. Let me know the project specs and quantity, I'll prepare a proposal."
Thanks for the referral. What's the background on this Dubai project?"
But they're hard to please. Different from me — they'll ask for everything."
