L/C还是T/T?

"Zuo, after internal review, our finance department requires all first-time overseas suppliers to pay by L/C at sight. This is a standard procedure for new vendors. Please prepare the L/C draft and send it to me for confirmation. Let me know if you need our bank details."

L/C at sight。

"Mark, I saw your email about the L/C. Can we talk about it for a few minutes?"

"Sure, go ahead." Mark

Mark, I understand your finance department has procedures. But let me share some numbers with you — not to argue, just to give you the full picture."

For an order of this size — three containers — the total L/C charges on our side would be somewhere between three hundred fifty and five hundred fifty dollars. That includes advising fees, negotiation fees, and potential discrepancy charges. And on your side, the issuing fee and courier charges might be similar. Combined, we're looking at close to a thousand dollars in banking costs. That's money that goes to the banks, not to either of us."

I didn't realize it's that high."

Also, the payment cycle — L/C usually takes about seven to ten business days after presentation of documents before the funds are released. With T/T, it's usually two to three days after we submit the BL copy. That's a week of cash flow difference — for both of us."

But my finance team said it's for risk control."

"I get that." And if you were buying from a completely new market or a country with high political risk, I'd agree. But here's what I can do instead — I'll send you our company's bank statement from the past six months showing all our overseas receipts, including three from Australia. That's verifiable proof that we have a track record. And I can put a clause in the PI saying if we fail to ship on time, we pay a penalty. That's more effective than L/C for managing delivery risk."

You're asking me to go back to my finance team and argue against their policy."

"I'm asking you to present them with an alternative that's more cost-effective,"小左说,"And I'm giving you all the documents you need to make that case."

"Send me the documents. I'll talk to them tomorrow morning."

I'll send everything within an hour. And Mark — thank you for being open to the discussion."

L/C这一侧:

T/T这一侧:

Here are the documents we discussed. Let me know if you need any additional verification."

Finance approved. T/T remains. Will transfer deposit today."

Thanks, Mark. Let me know once the transfer is done."

Received the deposit. One small question — the amount is 50 USD less than the PI. Was that due to the bank deduction on your side?"
